Entertainment Auditions 



LEGOLAND California will be holding auditions for the 2012 summer season. We are looking for dynamic and highly energetic people to portray fun characters all summer long! If you have ever wanted to be on stage, then this is the place for you!

LEGO® Friends LIVE: A musical review style interactive street show featuring the newest characters from the  popular LEGO® Friends line. The LEGO® Friends have travelled from Heartlake City to meet the guests of LEGOLAND California! Featuring popular music and hip dance moves!


Journey to the Lost Temple: Journey to the Lost Temple is a 28 minute musical adventure comedy featuring characters from our own Land of Adventure.  Join Johnny Thunder and blast back in time in this musical adventure. Specifically for children ages 2 to 12, the show features a cast of five San Diego-based actors and more than 30 volunteers pulled from the audience


Skulls Eye – The Search for the Enchanted Crown: The Kings Castle has been invaded by Pirates! Two greedy pirate captains race to find the treasure of King Justice and unlock the magical secrets of the Skulls Eye! Experience action and comedy in this swashbuckling adventure!


Costume Character Party: Get ready dance along with some of your favorite LEGO® characters and our troupe of dancers! This interactive street   show will put a spring in your step and a smile on your face!

AUDITION DATES AND TIMES FOR ACTORS, SINGERS WHO CAN ACT AND KIDS

Wednesday, May 2nd (5:45 – 8:00)
Thursday May 3rd (5:45 – 8:00)
Saturday May 5th (5:00 – 8:00)
Monday May 7th (5:45 – 8:00).

KIDS (Females ages 11 – 14 to be considered for LEGO® Friends LIVE) :

Please prepare 16 - 20 bars of an up tempo Pop or Rock style song as well as a  comedic monologue. If you can belt, we would like to see that.
Sheet music is required and an accompanist is provided.
No A Cappella or taped accompaniment is allowed.
Total audition time not to exceed 1 ½ minutes.


SINGERS WHO CAN ACT (To be considered for Journey to the Lost Temple and Character Dance Party) :

Please prepare 16 - 20 bars of an up tempo Pop, Rock or Musical Theater style song as well as a  comedic monologue. If you can belt, we would like to see that.
Sheet music is required and an accompanist is provided.
No A Cappella or taped accompaniment is allowed.
Total audition time not to exceed 1 ½ minutes.


ACTORS AND ACTRESSES (To be considered for Skull’s Eye):

Please prepare 2 comedic monologues, which demonstrate distinctly different characters. Total audition time not to exceed 1 ½ minutes.


DANCERS (To be considered for Character Dance Party):

Seeking male and female dancers with a background in a variety of dance styles including Hip Hop, Jazz and Musical Theater.
Dance call will be held on Tuesday, May 15th at 6:15PM. You must make an appointment prior to auditioning.
To schedule an audition appointment, please email auditions@legoland.com and let us know are interested in the dancer audition.
For the dance call, you do not need to prepare anything. Please come dressed ready to dance. You will be taught a combination.
Please note: if you are called back for Journey to the Lost Temple, you do not need to attend this dance audition.

 

COSTUME CHARCATERS (To be considered for costume character appearance around the park and the Character Dance Party):

Costume character auditions will take place on Wednesday, May 16th at 6:15PM.
You must make an appointment prior to auditioning.

CALL BACKS:

Callbacks for LEGO® Friends LIVE, our musical production for Kids will be held on
Tuesday, May 8th at 6:15PM
Musical selections from the show will be given out at your audition to prepare for this callback.
Please come prepared to dance


Callbacks for Journey to the Lost Temple, our musical production for ‘singers who can act’ will be held on
Wednesday, May 9th
Girls: 6:00PM – 9:30PM
Guys: 7:00PM – 9:30PM

Musical selections from the show will be given out at your audition to prepare for this callback.
Sides will be handed out at the callback.
Please come prepared to dance. Anyone called back for this production will be considered for the character dance party as well.


Callbacks for Skulls Eye our play for actors and actresses will be held on
Thursday, May 10th at 6:15PM

DIRECTIONS:


From Interstate-5 exit Palomar Airport Road and head EAST.
Drive about 4 blocks to The Crossings Drive and turn LEFT (NORTH). On the left hand side of The Crossings Drive is the Employee Entrance to LEGOLAND California.
 Please park in the visitor section and walk to the security gatehouse. You will be escorted to the auditions from there


RATE OF PAY:


 Kids, Actors, Singers and Dancer positions pay $14.00 per hour.
All Costume Character roles pay $10.00 per hour


USE OF MINORS IN OUR SHOWS:


o All minors (under age 16) must have a parent or guardian present for all rehearsals and performances. An on site studio teacher is present for all rehearsals and performances as well.

o Parent will not be permitted in the audition room for the initial audition. All parents will be allowed in the room for the callbacks for minors under the age of 16.


o Anyone under the age of 18 must possess an Entertainment Work Permit prior to the first rehearsal for their show.


o In the event a minor under the age of 16 is required to miss a regularly scheduled school day for their performance, the parent will be responsible to provide 3 hours of school work for each day missed (Because this is a summer schedule, rehearsals and performances should not interfere with regular school schedules)

LEGO® Friends LIVE

Olivia (Must harmonize well!): Cleaver, academic and a problem solver, but stubborn. Loves inventing things, building things and hanging out with her friends.

Emma (Must harmonize well!): Designer, stylist and creative but absent minded. Meet her in the beauty shop. Loves drawing, fashion and giving her friends make-over’s.

Andrea (Must harmonize well!): Musician, happy go-lucky and full of drama. Loves music, singing and dancing with friends.

Stephanie (Must harmonize well!): Party Planner, organized and energetic but a bit of a control freak. Loves planning things and her pets.

Mia (Must harmonize well!): Animal lover who’s practical and down to earth but always ready to work! Loves animals, being green and playing sports.


Journey to the Lost Temple - A musical comedy adventure

Johnny Thunder (TENOR): Johnny is an archeologist and adventurer who work’s for the “National Adventurer Museum”. His job is to find old artifacts to be placed on display. Johnny is an Indiana Jones type of character, with an Australian accent. Johnny Sings “Lost in Time” – an original song and “Time Warp” (From Rocky Horror Picture Show). Johnny works with several kid volunteers during the show. Minimal dance required.


Sam Sinister (BARITONE): The typical villain, Sam Sinister is brilliant, witty and evil. He was accepted to college at age 4 and spent 12 years obtaining a Doctorate Degree in every subject. Sam Sinister is a Lex Luther type. Sinister sings “Lost in Time” – an original song and “Time Warp” (From Rocky Horror Picture Show). Minimal dance experience in Jazz and/or Musical Theater.


Sphinx (BARITONE): Sphinx spent years designing all of the hieroglyphics in Egypt, but has lost his creativity; although he would never admit to that. He is an Elvis type. Sphinx Sings “Hieroglyphic Rock” – an original song. Minimal dance experience in Jazz and/or Musical Theater.


Pippin Reed (SOPRANO with strong Belt): Pippin is a reporter who does not let anything get in her way of the story. She tends to have an adventurers heart. She is ambitious, strong willed and is not afraid of much (except snakes). Pippin’s solo song is “Holding Out For a Hero” by Bonnie Tyler. Must harmonize well. Jazz and musical Theater dance experience helpful.


Moriah the Mummy* (ALTO): Locked away in a sarcophagus for ten years, Moriah is relieved to be released. She is highly energetic, fun and chatty. Moriah is across between the Genie from Aladdin and Dori from Nemo. Moriah wears a full body costume – those called back as Moriah should let us know if they have a problem wearing a head mask with only the mouth and eyes exposed. No Solo songs. Strong Harmonies Required. Jazz and musical Theater dance experience helpful


Cleopatra* (MEZZO): The famous Egyptian Pharaoh with a modern twist. Cleopatra is a diva who cares about her looks and setting current trends. Cleopatra speaks with a Valley Girl slang. Cleopatra sings the solo song “Walk Like an Egyptian” by the Bangles. Must harmonize well. Jazz and musical Theater dance experience helpful.


SWING:  We are also casting females to play all 3 roles in the show.


*Sam Sinister/ Sphinx are played by the same performer


*Moriah the Mummy and Cleopatra double as Evil Henchmen at the show start


Skulls Eye – The Search for the Enchanted Crown

Captain Blue Brick (Male): A well-educated, well-dressed pirate captain in search of the map to the treasure of King Justice. He is a more heroic, Errol Flynn type of character, however still very greedy, and with only one purpose: to claim the treasure of the crown.


Captain Red Brick (Male): An uneducated, odorous pirate captain who, has come to possess the magical Skull’s Eye, which is necessary to activate the enchanted map. He is a typical pirate villain.


Scab (Male or Female): A direct descendant of a faithful defender of the crown of King Justice. He/She speaks in varying tones, and wears his/her eye patch over a different eye, depending on which Captain is about. He/She is secretly playing one captain against the other, until the true heir to the crown can be found.
