LEGOLAND California Resort is proud to announce the world’s largest LEGO model is “landing” at LEGOLAND California on June 13, 2013. The LEGO Star Wars™ X-wing starfighter was unveiled for the first time on May 23 in New York’s Times Square by the LEGO Group.
The actual X-wing coming to LEGOLAND California is a 1:1 replica made of five million LEGO bricks that took a team of 32 Master Model Builders more than 17,000 hours to construct. The model weighs more than 45,000 pounds, stands 11 feet tall and 43 feet long, with a wingspan of 44 feet. After its New York appearance, the X-wing is making the trip across the country to LEGOLAND California Resort where it will be on display for guests to enjoy through the remainder of the year.
In addition to the LEGO Star Wars™ X-wing Model Display, the LEGO Star Wars Miniland Model Display includes scenes from the six live-action Star Wars™ movies, as well as one from the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars™ all made out of more than 1.5 million LEGO bricks and built in 1:20 scale. Guests can enjoy even more incredible LEGO models as they walk through the LEGO® Star Wars Gallery where they will encounter large-scale LEGO minifigures from each episode. Each LEGO model stands 3-feet-tall and is displayed on a podium for guests to get an up-close look. The 12 characters feature: Wicket, Princess Leia, R2-D2, Clone Captain Rex, Darth Vader, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Anakin Skywalker, Boba Fett, Chewbacca, Yoda and Darth Maul.
